The Story Behind "Leite com Mel"

Welcome to Leite com Mel 

Hi! I’m Melody, and I’m so glad you’re here. Leite com Mel is more than just a service—it’s a space where languages, cultures, and personal experiences come together to support you during one of the most transformative times of your life.

The name “Leite com Mel” means “Milk with Honey” in Portuguese, and it’s deeply personal to me. “Leite” represents lactation, the cornerstone of my work, but it also speaks to the nurturing care mothers provide. “Mel,” meaning honey, reflects my own name and the sweetness I strive to bring into every family’s journey.

A little about me—I’m a postpartum doula, childbirth educator, lactation education specialist, and I currently work at WIC in San Bernardino, where I support women, infants, and children every day. My journey into lactation and postpartum care began with my own struggles as a new mom. There were moments I wanted to give up, but the unwavering support of my doula and IBCLC inspired me. That experience sparked my passion for helping families. I’m currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Maternal Child Health: Human Lactation and working toward my IBCLC certification.

I’ve been shaped by so many places and cultures. I was born in Brazil to Taiwanese parents, spent my childhood soaking in Brazilian life, and later moved to Mexico City. These experiences gave me a deep appreciation for the diversity of families and how cultural perspectives shape motherhood. Since moving to the U.S. in 2018, I’ve combined all these threads into my work, bringing a culturally sensitive and personal touch to everything I do.

Leite com Mel reflects this journey. Just like milk and honey blend together to create something comforting, I bring together expertise, cultural understanding, and heartfelt support to help you navigate your unique path as a parent.
