The Story Behind "Leite com Mel"

Welcome to Leite com Mel, a sanctuary for lactation and postpartum care where multiple languages, cultures, and personal experiences come together to support new mothers on their journey. The name of our service, "Leite com Mel," meaning "Milk with Honey" in Portuguese, is more than just a brand. It's an intimate reflection of who I am and the unique support I offer to families during one of the most transformative times of their lives.

The word "Leite" not only signifies lactation—a cornerstone of the services I provide—but also encapsulates the essence of maternal nurturing. "Mel," besides being the Portuguese word for "honey," is a term of endearment close to my heart, adding a unique sweetness to the care I give.

I'm Mel, a multi-lingual postpartum doula fluent in five languages—English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese Mandarin, and the Taiwanese dialect. My journey into the world of lactation and postpartum care began with the birth of my own child. Faced with immense challenges and moments when I wanted to give up, it was my doula and IBCLC who stood by me, igniting my passion for becoming a birth worker. Today, I am a proud postpartum doula, a lactation education specialist, and a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor with WIC, a program dedicated to supporting women, infants, and children. I'm also working towards my bachelor's degree in Maternal Child Health: Human Lactation and look forward to obtaining my IBCLC license in the near future.

Born to Taiwanese parents in Brazil, my early years were steeped in the rich culture and vibrant language of Brazilian life. A subsequent chapter in Mexico City further diversified my cultural palette, imbuing me with a nuanced understanding of maternal health across different cultural settings. Now, residing in the United States since 2018, I've woven these diverse threads into a compassionate and personalized approach, shaping every facet of Leite com Mel.

My eclectic background equips me with the unique ability to connect on a deeper level with families from various cultural landscapes. Just as milk and honey unite to create a comforting blend, Leite com Mel harmonizes expertise, cultural understanding, and deep emotional support to help you and your family on your one-of-a-kind journey.
